I have 2.5 years of part-time experience in Mechanical Design and Drafting working at The University of Queensland, with extensive use of Siemens NX , with a focus on Design for Manufacturing to allow components to be affordably manufactured within the budget and capacity of the UQ Advanced Prototyping Workshop (APW).
Skills:
• Proficient in the use of software for numerical computation (Python, Excel, MATLAB, and Simulink), engineering design & analysis (Siemens NX, Autodesk Inventor, Fusion 360, ANSYS and QuickField), and graphic design (Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, Davinci Resolve).
• Mechanical Design for Manufacturing of experimental apparatus
• Managing project timelines and liaising with clients, manufacturers, suppliers throughout design projects
• Strong team collaboration, time management and CAD skills

Leach Cell Apparatus

Design of Leach Reactor Cells and a Frame for four leach cells and supporting components to be secured to.
Leach Cells: For culturing bacteria under acidic conditions in a Limestone medium.
Each cell is wrapped in heater tape and covered in insulating material.
Side Ports allow for sampling of the medium along with insertion of sensors to record data.

Electrowinning Cell

Flow-through Reactor, with a thin-walled Titanium tube used for the cell wall.

Slip-on Resin SLA end caps were designed to suit the already existing length of tube.
Designs include equal length blind channels that evenly distribute the flow into and out of the cell. An O-Ring groove was included in the design and appropriate O-Ring spec'd to ensure the liquid is contained and no leakage occurs.

Worm Gearbox

Design of a Worm Gearbox for a Remote Controlled Tow Vehicle (Course: MECH3100)

Dirt Cells

Design of an Acrylic Reactor Cell for containment and measurement of dirt medium used for bateria culturing.

Titanium Carabiner

Design of a WESN CB - Style Titanium Carabiner.
The carabiner retains the live-hinge feature of the original.
Dimensions of the hinge feature was altered based on ANSYS FEA simulations to achieve a desirable opening force.
Involved:
• 3D Modelling of the component
• Design verification in ANSYS Static Structural under a desired pinch load

Wheel Design

Design of a Monoblock Wheel for a light passenger vehicle with a ETRTO compliant rim contour profile.
The design was subsequently verified through simulation of a static load scenario in Siemens NX

Remote Controlled Tow Vehicle

Vehicle Performance Targets:
• Pull against a 600N opposing horizontal force
• Perform the above operation whilst carrying 50kg of ballast.

Vibration Column

Design of a vibrating assembly intended for fastening a-top a Jameson Cell with a Mixing Rod and Plate to agitate a coal slurry mixture to encourage separation of carbon from the mixture.

Beyblade

Bespoke Beyblade Design & Manufacturing with a design report. (MECH4304)

Fish Feed Hopper

Design and Manufacture of a PLA Fish Feed Hopper for an Aqua One 850 Aquarium.
Design replaces a long lid for an hopper suited for an external automatic feeder mounted above the filter outlet.
An additional short lid is designed such that the filtering compartments can be accessed without removal of the hopper.

Embedded Speaker Separation Column

Square polycarbonate flow-through cell with speakers fixed to the walls. Purpose to aid in the investigation of the use of frequencies to aid in carbon separation from a diluted coal slurry.

Electrochemical Cell

Reverse engineering the design of a Water Electrolyzer by Abdulhai H. Faqeeh and Mark D. Symes

Prototype Shock-Absorbing Crutch Feet

Prototype design of a shock-absorbing crutch feet consisting of small springs and 3D Printed housing.

Worm Gearbox

Project Description

Design of a Worm Gearbox for a Remote Controlled Tow Vehicle Project (Course: MECH3100)
Application: For integration and high gear ratio power transmission in a Remote Controlled Tow Vehicle project in UQ.
Total continual runtime expected from the vehicle is under 120s.
Design for Manufacturing: Worm Gearset designed such that the Worm Gear teeth could be cut using a BSPP Tap with the Gear Blank free in a rotary chuck. The Worm Shaft was designed for turning with threads turned using a 55 degree tool-end.
